Become a member

According to the rules of the Translation Industry Professionals, the following people can become members:
  • translators
  • interpreters
  • experts in languages, translation or multilingual communication
  • teachers or researchers of translation and interpretation
  • students in the field.
The Translation Industry Professionals include over 2100 members (February 2010) that work as translators, interpreters, technical communicators and in many other communication tasks requiring language skills, both in private companies and in public administration. 

Over half of the members have completed a Master of Philosophy degree and approximately one fourth are qualified translators. A little under 75% of the members work in the private sector and approximately 25% in the public sector. In addition some members are self-employed.

Why join?

The more translation professionals are members of his/her professional organisation – or the higher the degree of organising in the translation industry – the more efficiently Translation Industry Professionals can affect the appreciation of the industry and finally secure even better paid and more stable working relationships in the industry.

As a member you shall receive earnings-related unemployment benefit, support for the different phases in working life and many valuable member benefits.
