Joining
You can apply for Translation Industry Professional membership by filling out an application on the Akava Special Branches pages.
Your membership starts from the date your application is received in the Translation Industry Professionals or Akava Special Branches, unless you have requested to start your membership at a later date. Note that membership cannot start retrospectively.
You will receive a confirmation of becoming a member within two weeks. At the same time you will receive a package for new members, which includes material regarding the membership.

Are you transferring from another trade union and unemployment fund?
Fill out the Translation Industry Professionals’ member application on the Akava Special Branches pages. Once you have received a written confirmation about joining, send a written resignation to your previous trade union and resign starting from the same date that your membership in Translation Industry Professionals has started.
When you leave your old trade union and join Translation Industry Professionals within a month, the membership in the unemployment fund is uninterrupted and the already gathered work time condition will move with you. Remember to pay your membership fees to your previous trade union as required, so that the membership in the unemployment fund remains uninterrupted.
Joining should be timed at the turn of the month, so that counting the membership fees is easier. You should apply to start the membership immediately from the beginning of the next month.
You can give the desired joining date on the application. Otherwise your membership will start from the date when Translation Industry Professionals received your application.
