Become a student member

You can become a member of the Translation Industry Professionals already during your studies. The student member receives all the same membership benefits as a permanent member. This way during your studies you can already start fulfilling the work time and membership conditions that are required to receive earnings-related unemployment benefits. Also a student member pays 1 per cent of the gross income as membership fees.

The student member shall pay the membership fee, if the work time condition is fulfilled. This requires that the student works 18 hours a week or teaches 8 hours a week. Otherwise the students are exempt from paying the membership fees. The membership fees shall not be paid for student allowance or grants.

Special membership benefit for a student

A student member shall pay the membership fee, if the employment requirement is fulfilled.

Fill out an electronic member application (application is in Finnish).

Benefit for the unemployed

When you have joined the unemployment fund already as a student, you can receive earnings-related daily allowance, if you become unemployed when you finish your studies. The prerequisite for earnings-based daily allowance is that you fulfill the employment requirement.

If you have not been a member of the fund while studying, you will have no right to an earnings-based daily allowance that’s larger than the basic daily allowance.
