Membership fee

The membership fee of Translation Industry Professionals is 1 per cent of gross pay. The membership fee covers the services of Translation Industry Professionals, Akava Special Branches and the unemployment fund.

Basis for the membership fee

The membership fee is paid from the income under payroll tax of the main occupation. This means vacation compensations, vacation pay and fringe benefits (e.g. lunch, car and phone benefits) as well as any benefit paid by the Unemployment Fund for the Specially Trained (ERKO) (e.g. earnings-related daily allowance, training daily allowance, sabbatical compensation and training support).

Membership fee shall not be paid from any benefits granted by the Social Insurance Institution.

You can pay the membership fee yourself or let your employer collect it with a power of attorney.

The membership fee can be deducted in taxes.

You cannot resign from Translation Industry Professionals by ceasing to pay the membership fees. You have to notify of the resignation in writing and pay the membership fees until the date of resignation.

If you are applying for the benefits of the Unemployment Fund for the Specially Trained (ERKO), the fund will always check your membership fees. From any benefits paid by the fund, you can pay the membership fee yourself with an account transfer or you can give the power of attorney to the fund.

You can deduct the membership fee in taxes

Akava Special Branches will automatically inform about any membership fees paid between 1 January - 31 December to the tax authorities.

This is how you pay the membership fee yourself

The membership fee will be paid once a month. If you want to deviate from this, you must agree on that with the member secretaries. When paying the membership fees, use the reference numbers you received. The reference numbers change every month.

If you have not received membership fee reference numbers for this year or you need a single account transfer information for a certain period, you can order the reference number from the Akava Special Branches pages.

Do you want the employer to collect the membership fee from your pay?

If you want your employer to collect the membership fee, you can print a power of attorney from the Akava Special Branches pages. One copy of the power of attorney is to be returned to the Akava Special Branches office. A second copy will remain with your employer and you can keep the third copy for yourself.

Get a power of attorney with the document search in Akava Special Branches site: select the category Powers of attorney (valtakirjat-> jäsenmaksun valtakirja).
