Membership fee
The membership fee of Translation Industry Professionals is 1 per cent of gross pay. The membership fee covers the services of Translation Industry Professionals, Akava Special Branches and the unemployment fund.Basis for the membership fee
The membership fee is paid from the income under payroll tax of the main occupation. This means vacation compensations, vacation pay and fringe benefits (e.g. lunch, car and phone benefits) as well as any benefit paid by the Unemployment Fund for the Specially Trained (ERKO) (e.g. earnings-related daily allowance, training daily allowance, sabbatical compensation and training support).Membership fee shall not be paid from any benefits granted by the Social Insurance Institution.
You can pay the membership fee yourself or let your employer collect it with a power of attorney.
The membership fee can be deducted in taxes.
You cannot resign from Translation Industry Professionals by ceasing to pay the membership fees. You have to notify of the resignation in writing and pay the membership fees until the date of resignation.
If you are applying for the benefits of the Unemployment Fund for the Specially Trained (ERKO), the fund will always check your membership fees. From any benefits paid by the fund, you can pay the membership fee yourself with an account transfer or you can give the power of attorney to the fund.
