Contents of the degree
The degree of an authorised translator is a
specialisation degree in the field of translation. It is not a language degree
or a basic degree preparing one to enter the translation field. The authorised
translator degree proves the language and translation skills in the languages
of the degree as well as the other skills needed to function as an authorised
translator.
The part measuring the language and translations skills of an authorised
translator consists of two translation tasks. One of the translation tasks
shall be done in the field of law and government and the other either in the
field of economics, technology or medicine.
One of the translated languages must be Finnish, Swedish or Sami.
The part measuring the other skills necessary for functioning as an authorised
translator consists of a multiple-choice test indicating professional practices
of a translator.
Both parts of the degree must get acceptance on the same test.
