Further training

The society and language are constantly changing, so the expert in the translation industry should keep his/her knowledge up-to-date, get training and actively maintain his/her language skills and the cultural know-how in his/her language area.  

Translators and interpreters are offered professional area meetings and specialisation and further training in different places. Here are some examples:


Training regarding current affairs and supervision in working life

The Translation Industry Professionals and Akava Special Branches offer their members training supporting working life. Training is arranged e.g. for functioning as a self-employed person, taxation, search for work, project work. Meetings in your own profession

Translation Industry Professionals arranges different translation field events together with the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters and the Association of Finnish Translation Companies. The international translators’ day is celebrated annually on 30 September and an event plus a seminar is arranged in connection to the celebration.

A cooperation seminar in interpreting is arranged every other year. The seminar focuses on questions in the interpretation field. The seminar is arranged by the Translation Industry Professionals, Finnish Association of Sign Language Interpreters and the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters.

The annual symposium of translation and interpretation gathers together those interested in teaching and doing research in the field of translation and interpretation. The seminar is arranged by the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters.
